Nathan Wells Hamlin, also known as Valenn, age 42, died too young on December 12, 2024, at home in Bellingham, WA. Born on June 18, 1982, in Enumclaw, WA, Nathan was lovingly raised by adoptive parents, Gwen Wells-Wittwer and Steven Wittwer.
When Nathan was seven years old, he and his mother, Gwen moved to San Diego.
It was there that they met Steven. It wasn’t long after this meeting, that a seven-year-old Nathan turned to his mother and said, “you should marry Steven.” And she did!
Valenn, a hands-on person who learned by doing, was student at the school of hard knocks. And some of Valenn’s knocks were harder than others.
Valen saw God as a part of Nature and perceived the divine connectedness of all life. This could be seen in his ever-growing love and compassion for animals.
Valenn was a good friend: loyal, protective, giving, and trusting to a fault. He loved symphonic metal, Shana Kitty (and all the cats), movies, wrestling, comedy skits, and shopping with his beloved girlfriend, Sara.
We will celebrate Nathan’s life on Saturday, January 11, 2024, 4:00pm at Wildflower Funeral Concepts, 5706 4th Ave, Ferndale.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donation in Nathan’s name to the Whatcom Human Society.
